Just found out the meaning of the BSG main title theme song lyrics. This is the version with the awesome rock twist from the end credits of the movie The Plan.

The main title theme lyrics are from a Hindu mantra called the Gayatri Mantra sung in Sanskrit.

Lyrics (Sanskrit):

Om bhur bhuvah svah.
Tat savitur varenyam:
bhargo devasya dhimahi.
Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat.

Translation:

Oh God! Thou art the Giver of Life, Remover of pain and sorrow,
The Bestower of happiness, Oh! Creator of the Universe,
May we receive thy supreme sin-destroying light,
May Thou guide our intellect in the right direction.

Sounds like something Cylons would sing (if they sang). Bear McCreary is a genius. Love the variety of music styles and ethnic influences in the BSG soundtracks.

So say we all.
