PIRATES! (quick reaction)

Watched Pirates of the Caribbean 4 just now.

It was better than expected, but then again, I had low expectations. I just found a lot of things freakin’ confusing and hectic (but not as confusing and crazy as At World’s End). I thought it started quite promisingly and humorously with Jack Sparrow running the show. But then towards the end with the Spanish, British, Barbossa, Angelica, Jack Sparrow, Black Beard and even the mermaid converging on that Fountain of Youth with their own motives I was totally confused. I just didn’t know who wanted what and why. It just got hectic.

What I liked:

• Black Beard’s first appearance. The action scenes that followed with Black Beard owning everyone on the ship was pretty well done.
• The part with the mermaids. It was a pretty suspenseful and exciting action scene.
• As always, some of Jack Sparrow’s actions and quips. That scene at the beginning where he was apprehended and being interrogated by the king(?) was hilarious and great.

What I didn’t like:

• Plot holes. There were a lot of moments when I went “why didn’t he/she do that?” which annoyed me. 
• A lot of the ways the characters bumped into each other or found important things seemed to be by random chance.
• All the confusing stuff I talked about earlier. And certain parts of the movie I felt were dragged a bit too long.

Overall, it was just an OK movie. Definitely not worth seeing in 3D. Pirates 1 and 2 are still the best.
