Castle season finale

Watched the season finale of Castle yesterday. Gotta be honest, I didn’t really dig it. Yes, a lot of things happened. A lot of major things. Characters were put in unfamiliar situations, they fought, tables turned, people died and so on. Call me cynical, but I just felt that most of this drama was unnecessary and it was there just because it’s a season finale and they were trying to make it as dramatic and unexpected as possible.

For example, Captain Roy Montgomery’s death was unnecessary. He’s tries to be a hero by trying to take out 4 (or 5?) bad guys by himself. He sends Kate and Castle away instead of telling them to arm themselves and take positions to ambush the bad guys. Better yet, why didn’t Montgomery just call in a SWAT team instead of Kate and Castle? And also, are the bad guys (who are supposed to be very clever) that stupid and just all show up at an abandoned warehouse? I mean, they obviously didn’t trust Montgomery. I thought they would have take some precaution, like surveying the area first or something. I was just shaking my head when Montgomery told Castle and Kate to hide. Just so necessary stuff to end the season with drama.

Also Montgomery turning out to be a bad guy reminds me of Dollhouse when Boyd turned out to be a bad guy all along. I just don’t buy it. The writers just trying to create plot twists for the sake of it.

Anyway rant over. I just thought that the last couple of episodes before the finale were really great so I was just a bit disappointed with what I thought was a finale with plot holes and forced drama.
